How tradition replaced truth—and what it cost us.
Lie #1: God’s original plan was one man and one woman.
God gave Adam a helper—not a limit. No verse says he couldn’t have more. In fact, God gave multiple wives to His chosen men.
Lie #2: The 'two become one flesh' means monogamy.
Scripture shows men becoming ‘one flesh’ with multiple wives. This verse means union—not exclusivity.
Lie #3: Polygamy is a result of sin.
Polygyny was normalized and regulated in Scripture. God even said He gave David multiple wives (2 Samuel 12:8).
Lie #4: The New Testament prohibits it.
It doesn’t. Paul only restricts bishops to one wife. That implies others could have more than one.
Lie #5: No one practices this anymore.
Thousands of faithful believers do—including leaders in the faith. It never stopped; it just went underground.
Lie #6: Polygamy harms women.
No—abandonment does. Biblical polygyny provides covering, community, and legacy for women.
Lie #7: It’s selfish for a man to want more than one wife.
What’s selfish is demanding a man deny what God permits so someone else feels special. Biblical love is selfless, not possessive.
Lie #8: There’s no example of godly polygynous marriages in Scripture.
Abraham, Jacob, David, Moses—God used them all. Imperfect? Yes. But faithful and fruitful.
Lie #9: Jesus didn’t teach it.
He also didn’t mention abortion or heroin. Silence isn’t prohibition. He upheld the Law—which allowed polygyny.
Lie #10: This is a distraction from the gospel.
Restoring truth isn’t a distraction—it’s discipleship. Marriage reflects the Kingdom. Getting it right matters.
