Why God Wired Men for Variety—and Why the Church Needs to Stop Pretending Otherwise: Biblical Polygyny Truth

Let’s talk about something the church avoids and the culture exploits: men’s desire for sexual variety. Say that out loud and people lose their minds. You’ll get accused of making excuses for lust, defending sin, or being “toxic.” But what if this drive wasn’t a defect… but a design?

God didn’t make mistakes when He created men. He built them to multiply, conquer, build, and lead. That same wiring that fuels a man’s ambition also shows up in his attraction to variety. Suppress one, and you often suppress both.

But here’s where the disconnect happens: modern Christianity has tried to mold men into a box God never built for them.

Instead of acknowledging male nature and aligning it with God’s righteous order, we tell men to deny it altogether. And the consequences have been catastrophic—for men, for women, and for families.

What’s worse? The solution has been hiding in plain sight. It’s biblical, it’s ancient, and it works when done with honor.

It's called polygyny—a man marrying more than one wife.

Yes, the very thing the church says is unthinkable… is the very thing that God regulated and even blessed throughout Scripture. Not to indulge lust, but to expand protection, provision, and legacy.

We live in a time where there are far more godly women than there are godly men. Women are aging out of the marriage market, while churches keep preaching a doctrine that leaves them single or settling.

That’s not God’s design.

God created men with the capacity—and sometimes the calling—to lead more than one woman. Not for selfish gain, but for sacrificial responsibility. That's biblical polygyny truth.
